Round 22: VARRICK vs LEO

Round 22 sees veteran Fightclubber Philby’s Leo, challenge last round winner, Darkwrath’s Varrick.

Current champion, Darkwrath’s VARRICK, the Releaser of Souls, a living 1.5 Tonnes, 7.5 feet angel of death and destruction used as a weapon by his Masters, a mysterious sect known only as ‘The Brothers of Purification’. The red behemoth is impervious to extremes in temperature and has incredible speed and agility.

Philby’s Leo Adams is almost the polar opposite of his Spentas partner Jennifer, quiet and introverted, even gloomy, where she is friendly and outgoing. As well as increased strength and speed, Leo has fire-based magic abilities. His power runs deeper than most, and he also has the ability to summon elemental spirits. He joined the Fightclub on Jennifer’s insistence that he get out and meet more people.

Both contestants must post one final image in the FINALS thread and minimum of two here in the wip thread. The deadline for final images is Friday midnight-ish BST on 18th September. Voting will then be open for two days. For full rules check them out here.

Round 21 Winner: Varrick

Chalk the first one up to Darkwrath’s Varrick. And commiserations to Chuck’s (aptly named) FC0021. Great first fight (well second technically for Varrick) who will now be staying in the ring and will be up against Leo.

Round 21: VARRICK vs FC 0021

Round 21 sees Darkwrath’s Varrick, who’s just barely wet his whistle from the Fighting in the Aisles Tournament side challenge, up against newcomer Chuck_norris’s FC 0021.

Darkwrath’s VARRICK: The Releaser of Souls, a living 1.5 Tonnes, 7.5 feet angel of death and destruction used as a weapon by his Masters. A mysterious sect known only as ‘The Brothers of Purification’. The red behemoth is impervious to extremes in temperature and has incredible speed and agility. Just one monthly fight under his incredibly large belt so far.

And the challenger Chuck Norris’ FC-0021, a mecha fresh out of the factory with artificial intelligence and built in emotions, designed for military use. With 1″ thick kevlar armour and bullet proof glass, it’s certainly a formidable opponent. It’s weapons include a SAM (surface to air missile) launcher on top, a flame thrower at the back, and a 3 barrel laser cannon at the front. Its biggest vulnerability would be the open panels around the engine and cooling system, but be careful, the coolant is a high commercial grade of acid.

Both contestants must post one final image in the FINALS thread and minimum of two in the WIP thread. The deadline for final images is two weeks from now, Monday midnight-ish BST on 31st August. Voting will then be open for two days. For full rules check them out on the Rules page.

So SERENA is our first Fightclub Tournament Champion 2009. Final Voting and a Side Challenge.

Well, the time has come (and is almost over) for the final voting in the 2009 Fightclub tournament.  HERE.  Go support your favorite fighter with your vote.

So now what are the battle weary artists left to do?  Many of their characters have been defeated, mamed beyond repair, or have simply disappeared into the ether.  There has been an unscantioned brawl (which we later opened for voting), and the tournament that has lasted for months is coming to an end.  Again, what to do what to do??

Well my friends, there are some minor housekeeping items to take care of.
Over at Imagine FX and Here, we will be opening a design our Fightclub Header Challenge.  Winner will receive the distinct honor of winning (duh), and will have their image as our custom header until someone has enough free time to open this challenge up again.

• This challenge will run till midnight 9/1/2009 (GMT)
• The images must be your own work (however I personally want people to include other fighters  if that’s part of the image composition- If an artist has a problem with that, let me know).
• You must participate in the FightClub WIP Thread with at least two images
• You must post your final image in the FightClub Header Final Thread
• Final Image size for the purpose of our header must be 500X225 pixels.

Begin whenever you are ready, and I’m pretty sure by the time September rolls around someone will be ready for a fight and our characters maybe ready for another battle.

Fighting in the Aisles Winner

We have a winner for our Fighting in the Aisles challenge, and it was a close-run scrap. Final results were:

Fighting in the Aisles – Voting Now Open

Voting is now open on the Fightclub’s Fighting in the Aisles challenge. Seven brawlers joined in and a few fell at the final hurdle, leaving us with four final entries. Check out the final images and cast your vote. And go see how the mayhem progressed in the WIP section.

All of the challengers also have a reputation for dishing up serious amounts of violence, brutality and dismemberment.

The Evolution of a Fightclub

It wasn’t an imaginary, masochist friend of Chris’s coming up with the idea, asking him to blow up half the city, although on reading some of the threads below you might be forgiven for thinking it was. Probably the best thing to do is for me is to shut up and let you read through the many pages in the links below and decide for yourself. C’mon, reading through them couldn’t be any more arduous or painstaking than taking on Tellyhead in a Fightclub round now, could it?
